A. Educational Counseling (MS)

June 2026 Revision

The Educational Counseling (MS) section of the 2026–2027 Catalog was revised to clarify degree pathway options, concentration pathways, program lengths, unit requirements, fieldwork requirements, and the relationship between the Educational Counseling and School-Based Counseling pathways and the Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential and Child Welfare and Attendance (CWA) Authorization.

The update reorganizes the program into distinct degree pathways with clearly defined completion requirements and concentration options. No changes were made to approved curriculum requirements or course offerings. The amendment was approved on June 15, 2026, and was made to improve clarity, consistency, and administrative alignment for prospective and continuing students.

August 2026 Revision

The section was further revised in August 2026 to finalize the names of the two programs as Educational Counseling (M.S.) and Educational Counseling with Pathway (M.S.). The Educational Counseling with Pathway program includes the Social Justice in Higher Education and Spanish Bilingual/Bicultural Counseling options.

The catalog was also revised to clarify that the School Credential add-on is an option available to students in either program.

B. Grade Definitions

The WNC (Withdrawal/No Credit) grade has been removed from the grade definitions to align the catalog with the University's current grading policy.

C. Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC)

The Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC) program has been updated to reflect approved course requirements. Admission Requirement #8 has also been added to require a letter of recommendation for applicants.

D. Undergraduate Honors

The undergraduate honors eligibility requirements have been updated. Bachelor's degree students must complete a minimum of 60 institutional credits at the University of La Verne for a letter grade to be eligible for Latin honors.

E. Accelerated ESN & MMSN

August 2026 revision

The following program requirement has been added for candidates newly enrolling on or after July 16, 2026:

Candidates earning the Education Specialist credential through the accelerated pathway must meet the literacy competency requirement. This requirement can be met by:
a. Passing score on the Literacy Performance Assessment
b. Passing score on the Foundations of Reading Exam
c. Passing score on RICA if used for certification purposes for prerequisite credential.

 Candidates continuously enrolled prior to July 16, 2026 follow the previous requirements.
