Catalog Addendum
A. Educational Counseling (MS)
June 2026 Revision
The Educational Counseling (MS) section of the 2026–2027 Catalog was revised to clarify degree pathway options, concentration pathways, program lengths, unit requirements, fieldwork requirements, and the relationship between the Educational Counseling and School-Based Counseling pathways and the Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential and Child Welfare and Attendance (CWA) Authorization.
The update reorganizes the program into distinct degree pathways with clearly defined completion requirements and concentration options. No changes were made to approved curriculum requirements or course offerings. The amendment was approved on June 15, 2026, and was made to improve clarity, consistency, and administrative alignment for prospective and continuing students.
August 2026 Revision
The section was further revised in August 2026 to finalize the names of the two programs as Educational Counseling (M.S.) and Educational Counseling with Pathway (M.S.). The Educational Counseling with Pathway program includes the Social Justice in Higher Education and Spanish Bilingual/Bicultural Counseling options.
The catalog was also revised to clarify that the School Credential add-on is an option available to students in either program.
October 2026 Revision
The section was revised again in October 2026 to replace the two-program pathway structure described above with three distinct degree programs:
- Educational Counseling (M.S.)
- Educational Counseling with Social Justice in Higher Education (M.S.)
- Educational Counseling with Spanish Bilingual Bicultural Counseling (M.S.)
The Social Justice in Higher Education and Spanish Bilingual Bicultural Counseling options are now presented as separate 54-unit degree programs rather than pathways or concentrations within a single program. The general Educational Counseling (M.S.) remains a 45-unit degree program.
The School Counseling Credential remains an optional concentration available under each of the three degree programs. The concentration includes PPS 592 and the additional fieldwork required for eligibility for the Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling and the Child Welfare and Attendance Authorization.
These revisions clarify the organization and naming of the approved programs and do not change the approved curriculum or course offerings.

B. Grade Definitions - Rescinded
October 2026 Revision
The amendment removing the WNC (Withdrawal/No Credit) and WF grades has been rescinded as of October 6, 2026. Both grades remain in the University’s grade definitions.

C. Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC)
The Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC) program has been updated to reflect approved course requirements. Admission Requirement #8 has also been added to require a letter of recommendation for applicants.

D. Undergraduate Honors - Rescinded
October 2026 Revision
The amendment establishing a minimum of 60 institutional letter-graded credits for undergraduate honors eligibility has been rescinded. Students must complete at least 44 semester hours in residence to be considered for undergraduate honors.

E. Accelerated ESN & MMSN
August 2026 revision
The following program requirement has been added for candidates newly enrolling on or after July 16, 2026:
Candidates earning the Education Specialist credential through the accelerated pathway must meet the literacy competency requirement. This requirement can be met by:
a. Passing score on the Literacy Performance Assessment
b. Passing score on the Foundations of Reading Exam
c. Passing score on RICA if used for certification purposes for prerequisite credential.
Candidates continuously enrolled prior to July 16, 2026 follow the previous requirements.

F. PsyD Admissions Requirement
October 2026 correction
The minimum grade for prerequisite coursework for admission to the PsyD in Clinical Psychology program has been corrected from C-/credit to B-/credit to reflect the approved requirement.
