The Department of Art, Art History, and Photography is committed to providing a rich environment of interdisciplinary learning and exploration in which the student will develop a sound foundation of knowledge and a wealth of experience in the visual arts. The art studio courses, art history lectures and seminars, and the University gallery programs provide the context for the curricula in the Studio Art and Art History majors.
The Photography major is composed of courses that develop technical, critical and conceptual skills for a practice-based approach to the medium. The combined curriculum of analog and digital photographic methods provides the students with a full technical and theoretical grounding necessary for maintaining an artistic practice while refining the practical skills applicable to building a photographic career in the artistic, commercial and/or media fields.
