Educational Leadership (M.Ed.)

Admission Requirements

  1. Application for admission and application fee.
  2. Official transcripts from all institutions attended. A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a preferred GPA of 2.75 or above in undergraduate work and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in any graduate work.
  3. A Statement of purpose (double spaced, 1, 500 words) that includes an articulation of the following:
    1. Your reasons for entering teacher leadership as a profession.
    2. Any personal or professional experiences and/or qualifications related to your intended field of study.
    3. Your perspectives on the relevance and role of cultural competence in school leadership.
  4. Current résumé.
  5. Two letters of recommendation (on letterhead) from individuals qualified to objectively evaluate the candidate succeed in graduate school and the potential to be a competent educator. Letters must be from individuals who can knowledgeably comment on academic skills, employment/volunteer experience, leadership potential, and professional abilities.

Master's Degree in Educational Leadership after Preliminary Administrative Services Credential Program

Students who are completing their Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC) at the University of La Verne may apply for admission to the Educational Leadership M.Ed. program. PASC courses are accepted toward the degree as long as the student is admitted and enrolled in the M.Ed. program within 5 years of the first PASC course.  Students must have earned a grade of B or better or CRD if that was the only grade option. Students must enroll and complete the two research courses (6 semester hours) to earn this degree after completing their PASC non-degree program. The two research courses--EDLD 502 Educational Research and Inquiry and EDLD 596 Graduate Seminar--are three semester hours each and can be completed in one additional semester after PASC completion.

Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership with Law Concentration (MED/JD)

JD students at the University of La Verne’s College of Law may apply for admission to the Educational Leadership M.Ed. program to earn a second degree. Law courses are reviewed for acceptance; students may request to transfer up to 12 law semester hours toward the M.Ed. degree.
